Dynasty Power trades electricity, natural gas, and environmental products across the US, Canada, Mexico, and the EU.
Dynasty is active in major power trading markets including CAISO, Ontario IESO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, AESO, ERCOT, and European markets.
Dynasty Power is currently seeking a Trading Operations Intern to support the development and implementation of operational infrastructure for the company’s international trading activities.
This role will focus on the design and implementation of confirmation, reconciliation, settlement, and control processes related to European trading operations, as well as supporting operational setup initiatives for the company’s Asian office.
The position provides direct exposure to power and natural gas trading operations, ETRM systems, settlements, operational controls, and cross-border energy trading processes.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced trading environment.
The internship is expected to begin on June 1 and conclude on August 30.
This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and is open to local candidates only.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement workflows between EU counterparties and Dynasty’s ETRM system.
- Analyze and document operational trading and confirmation processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Assist with the design, standardization, and documentation of operational controls and business procedures.
- Support operational initiatives related to international market expansion and trading infrastructure.
- Work closely with trading, risk management, and operations personnel to improve workflow efficiency and process reliability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational risk reduction.
- Provide support across trading operations activities as required.
Qualifications
- Current university student studying Business, Economics, Finance, or Commerce, and returning to school in September.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated ownership and accountability.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn and work with software systems, operational tools, and data workflows.
- Basic project management or process coordination experience is an asset.
- Programming or automation experience (Python, VBA, SQL, or similar) is an asset, but not required.
- Prior exposure to power, natural gas, commodities, or financial markets is desirable.
