Settlements Analyst

Position Summary
Dynasty trades financial power across North America. Dynasty is active in CAISO, IESO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP and ERCOT. This position is responsible for contributing to financial analysis, data management, accounting record keeping and management reporting as necessary to ensure all ISO and RTO trade settlement for Dynasty Power is accurate. This individual will also conduct research to support ISO settlement and charge validation. The individual may also assist with trade data gathering, interpretation and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • ISO/ RTO Settlement: Collects, organizes, and summarizes all ISO charge codes for Dynasty Power. Compares internally-generated ISO revenue to actual ISO invoices and reconciles discrepancies. Maintains a summary of ISO fees and charges that will be used to keep Dynasty Power’s internal reporting tools accurate. Works closely with the accounting manager and risk management team to ensure accurate accounting for ISO settlements
  • Regulatory trade reporting: Provides information necessary for validating FERC required quarterly transaction reporting (EQR). Completes National Energy Board reporting requirements
  • Accounting system book keeping: Assists with the entry of miscellaneous financial entries in the corporate accounting system.
  • Miscellaneous database and spread-sheeting: Query data from SQL databases and manipulate in excel to help with miscellaneous data inquiries from colleagues

Qualifications

  • Business, math or statistics diploma or degree.
  • A minimum of one year of directly related experience in a similar role for a firm that trades power in the US ISOs

Required Skills

  • Proficient with the use of personal computers, MS Excel, SQL or C++ and SAGE accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently in a high paced and dynamic environment.

Transmission Analyst

Dynasty Power is looking for a highly motivated, self-sufficient and enthusiastic individual who has strong desire to grow within the company to fill a new Transmission Analyst role. This analyst will provide electrical transmission system congestion analysis for short and longer term power and FTR trading activity. The role requires aggregating data across a number of databases to produce easy to use reports. The successful candidate will possess an extensive knowledge of power flow simulation software and forecasting tools such as UPLAN, PROMOD, PowerWorld, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Run Daily/Term PowerFlow Simulations Models using Powerworld/Matpower
  • Design & develop custom analysis and modeling software for power trading
  • Develop a comprehensive database of various fundamental & statistical risk factors of Power/Gas Markets
  • Develop a stack and dispatch model for generation
  • Identify economic and non-economic factors driving generation behavior
  • Understand cross-commodity fuel linkages, coal/gas switching, gas pipeline flows
  • Develop custom reports and indices summarizing the Energy markets and other market participant FTR portfolios

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related quantitative field, Master’s or PhD degrees preferred
  • High Level of Proficiency in Matlab/Eviews/ programming and Excel analysis. SQL and VBA skills are also required
  • Advanced experience running Powerflow Software: Promod/Dayzer/Powerworld/Matpower
  • Analytical skills required for trade analysis and pricing work
  • Team Player: actively share information, constructively build new strategies, work to make the team better and smarter

  • Prior power trade floor experience is required
  • Confident, articulate individual
  • Independently prioritize task and respond quickly to changes in priorities
  • Explain complex concepts in a cohesive and clear manner
